Adaptive Harmony Search for Tuned Liquid Damper Optimization under Seismic Excitation

In this study, the tuned liquid damper (TLD) device was optimized by harmony search (HS) and adaptive algorithms (AHS). Using algorithm, seismic excitations were directed at single ten-story structures, TLD parameters to minimize building movement. To improve design parameters, optimization process repeated adapting factors of algorithm. For purpose, both memory consideration ratio (HMCR) fret width (FW) gradually reduced providing an initial value, optimum algorithm obtained. As a result optimizations, in critical analysis, displacements showed smaller means standard deviations than those classical search.
